A new chapter has begun for the Senegalese Centre for Jobs, Migration, and Reintegration (CSAEM): The National Agency for the Promotion of Youth Employment (ANPEJ) now independently manages the centre.

Since 2017, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH has operated the advisory centre on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). ANPEJ now continues the work of the centre under the name “Centre Sénégalais pour l’Appui à l’Emploi, la Migration et la Réintégration (CSAEM).” The handover took place in June 2024 in Dakar.

During the handover event, participants reflected on the successful collaboration between GIZ and ANPEJ. Internship and job fairs were particularly highlighted, as they have helped many young people find employment. Additionally, the support measures for the establishment of small businesses were valued, as they have opened up new prospects in Senegal for many returnees in particular.

The centre will continue to advise people on topics such as regular migration, training and further education opportunities, starting a business and mental health under the direction of ANPEJ.
