The Gambian-German Advisory Centre for Jobs, Training and Reintegration (GGAC) in Serrekunda celebrated its official opening at the beginning of June. The team had already started work in the previous months.
The centre and its partners offer a range of services. They are aimed at both potential returnees from Germany and the local population in The Gambia. The counsellors support people in their search for a job, for example. The GGAC team also provides psychosocial support and advises on setting up a business or taking further training.
The Gambia's Ministry of Trade, Industry, Regional Integration and Employment (MOTIE) and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH cooperate on the operationalisation of GGAC. The centre is part of the commitment of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) to support voluntary return and sustainable reintegration.
