I spent 3 years working as an electrician in Saudi Arabia. But I wasn’t earning enough and I missed my family. So I returned to Pakistan in 2018. A PGFRC training course enabled me to become self-employed.
My name is Laeeq. I come from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in Pakistan and I'm 40 years old. I used to work as an electrician in Pakistan. Then I went to Saudi Arabia to search for better opportunities. I worked as an electrician there too, but wasn’t earning enough. And I missed my family, so I decided to return to them in 2018. I worked as an electrician again after returning, but always only for other companies on a day-to-day basis. Then the inflation rate in our country kept increasing, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic. My daily wage was therefore no longer sufficient to live on. I had to find a way to improve my income.
