Gambian-German Advisory Centre closes – regional cooperation remains

The Gambian-German Advisory Centre for Jobs, Training and Reintegration (GGAC) closed in May 2026: It held a special closing event to celebrate five years of successful work and cooperation.

Since 2021, the centre has been a safe place for Gambian youth, job seekers, and people returning from abroad to find guidance and build a brighter future. Five years later, it leaves behind national agencies and civil society organisations that are better equipped to support and inform Gambian people interested in going abroad as well as returnees.

During the closing event, participants reflected on the broad range of activities built over the years. The highlight of the closing event was an exhibition that put a spotlight on the people that have been supported by the GGAC. Visitors could explore the personal success stories of many Gambians who found new jobs, learned valuable skills, or successfully started their own businesses with the centre's support. It showed how much everyone can achieve with the right preparation and opportunities.

At the event, seven partner institutions committed themselves to continue their work together. They will organise joint activities and make it easier for people across The Gambia to get help. This includes migrants, returnees, young people, and anyone else who needs extra support.
